RODNEY, Iowa | Connie M. Davis, 67, of Rodney died Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at a local hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Root Funeral Home–Willman Chapel in Rodney, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will follow in Little Sioux Township Cemetery at Smithland, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rootfuneralhomes.com.

Connie Marleen Davis, daughter of Warren W. and Alice M. (Lent) Parsley, was born April 5, 1948, in Smithland, Iowa. Connie grew up and attended grade school in Smithland. She attended high school at Westwood in Sloan, Iowa, and graduated in 1966. Following high school, she worked for Zenith Corporation.

On Oct. 3, 1969, Connie was united in marriage to Michael W. Davis in Smithland. To this union one son, Kyle, was born. The family made their home in Sioux City, and Connie worked at Donnelley Marketing and then Aalfs Manufacturing. For the past 20 years, Connie and Mike have lived in Rodney. They owned and operated the Double D Restaurant in Rodney for several years. In recent years, she worked for Smurfit-Stone until retiring at age 62. In her retirement years, she worked at the Country Store in Smithland.

Connie enjoyed her flowers and gardening. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren, Madison, Carter and Cale.

Connie is survived by her husband, Michael Davis of Rodney; son, Kyle Davis and wife, Holli of Hinton, Iowa; three grandchildren, Madison Davis of Sioux City, and Carter and Cale Davis, both of Hinton; siblings, Leon Parsley and wife, LuAnn of Fremont, Neb., Lance Parsley of Sioux City, Gayland Parsley and wife, Cheryl of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Cheryl Beckstrom and special friend, Richard Malloy of Sioux City, and Marvin Parsley and wife, Toni of Omaha; special family, Aunt Jenny Lent of Lakewood, Colo., and Cousin Luena Lent of Spearfish, S.D.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dennis and Michael Parsley.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to sister-in-law Patricia Barngrover for being such a good friend to Connie over the years.
