17 December 2007Wilma L. Burmeister, 88, of Sioux City passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Countryside Senior Living in Sioux City.
The body was cremated, and the family will have their own private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.
Wilma was born Jan. 16, 1919, in rural Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Emma (Arndt) Rath. She attended country school and helped with chores on her parents' farm.
On Dec. 29, 1940, she married Harold R. Burmeister. They farmed together in rural Lawton, Iowa, until they moved to Sioux City in 1953.
She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed sharing her faith with others. She also enjoyed playing the piano by ear, yard work, housekeeping and especially cooking.
Survivors include her son and his wife, Ray and Penny Burmeister of Sioux City; a sister, Erma Meggars of Denison, Iowa; three nieces; and a number of cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Harold, who passed away on Feb. 4, 2000, in Sioux City
