SIOUX CITY | Janet Schoenherr, 73, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at her home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Janet Ann, the daughter of Matt and Cecilia (Uhl) Flammang, was born on July 20, 1942, in Mapleton, Iowa. She grew up in Mapleton, where she attended school. She then worked as a nurse's aide in a nursing facility.

On Sept. 12, 1964, Janet was united in marriage with Leonard J. Schoenherr in Sioux City. Five children were born to this union. The couple made their home in Sioux City, where Janet enjoyed raising her children and babysitting.

Janet was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, doing cross stitch and crossword puzzles. Janet cherished the time spent with her family, kids and grandkids.

Janet is survived by two sons, David (Jill) Schoenherr of Sioux City, and Leonard (Deanna) Schoenherr Jr. of Florida; three daughters, Kimberly (Lynn) Smith of Le Mars, Iowa, Cindy Poppema of Sioux City, and Tammy Schoenherr of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin (JoAnn) Flammang of Bronson, Iowa, and Roger (Linda) Flammang of Kingsley, Iowa; and two sisters, Sandra (Charlie) Bokemper of Sioux City, and Sharon Langmeyer of Le Mars.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a nephew, Mark Bokemper
