ANTHON, Iowa -- Carol A. Brown, 42, of Anthon died Monday, March 24, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Vickie Steffes officiating. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Carol Ann Brown was born May 8, 1965, the daughter of Wayne and Alta (Fick) Patterson. She grew up in the Anthon area and graduated from Anthon-Oto High School with the class of 1983. She fell in love with Steve Brown, whom she considered to be her best friend.

On Sept. 21, 1984, she and Steve were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Anthon. She was often heard to say, "Happiness is being married to your best friend." The couple lived in Sioux City for about a year and a half before returning to the Anthon area. They were blessed with two children, Katie and Branden. In 2000, she became employed with the Heritage Bank in Anthon, where she worked until present.

Her focus was on staying home and lovingly caring for her family. Along with tending to their needs, she enjoyed everything about being a homemaker. She loved to restore the home, cook, bake and can from her garden. Outside the home, she found pleasure in fishing, riding bikes, boating, bull riding and monster trucks. She was a big fan of the music of George Strait.

She was confirmed in the Methodist faith on April 29, 1979, and remained a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Anthon.

Survivors left to cherish their memories of her include her husband, Steve; a daughter, Katie of Anthon and her fiance, Corey Dose of Mapleton, Iowa; a son, Branden at home; her mother, Alta Patterson of Anthon; a sister and her husband, Karen and David Bumsted of Westfield, Iowa; her twin nephews, Jason and Jarrod Bumsted of Westfield; and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne George Patterson; a brother, Robert Wayne Patterson; paternal grandparents, George and Rose Patterson; and maternal grandparents, John and Meta Fick.
