SIOUX CITY | Joan "Joni" Hogan, 68, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Merrill Muller will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joni was born on April 28, 1946, in Sioux City, to Henry "Hank" and Ann (Appledorn) Hildebrand. She was raised in the McCook Lake Area and graduated from Jefferson High School 1964.

She married Bill Beardsley in 1964 and the couple moved to Kingsley, Iowa. Bill died in 1969 and Joni moved to Sioux City. She married Harry Hogan in 1972 at Sioux City, and they moved to the Bronson, Iowa, area in 1972. Joni worked at the Bowl-Mor Bowling Alley for 16 years. She then worked at Pesch Optical and Mid-Step Services.

Joni loved crocheting, knitting and doing crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with family and would help family and friends with their flower gardens.

She is survived by five children, Rick ( Elisa) Beardsley of Arizona, Jamie Hogan of North Carolina, Jerry Beardsley (Maryanne Koetters) of Sioux City, Russ (Laurie) Beardsley of Sergeant Bluff, and Brandi Milburn (Terry Anderson) of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister, Deb Nelson (Stan Krienert); and her brother, Henry (Joanne) Hildebrand.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and her sister, Mary Boisen.

A memorial has been established in her name for the Midwest Dialysis Center in Sioux City.
