SIOUX CITY | Benard "Ben" Steffe, 66, of Sioux City died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Halaas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a time of remembrance at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Ben was born on July 26, 1948, in Sioux City, the son of Calvin and Grace (Pointer) Steffe. He graduated from East High School in 1966 and continued his education at the University of Iowa, Norfolk Junior College and Briar Cliff College.

Ben was united in marriage to Nancy Sorensen on July 26, 1969. They made their home in Sioux City. Ben owned and operated many businesses which he loved, the most recent being Gearhead Garage.

He was an accomplished artist and custom painter. Ben enjoyed motorcycles and auto body work, most recently, hot rods. He liked fishing, antiquing, and being a conversationalist. Ben loved animals, especially his dogs. Ben was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Sioux City; three sisters, Shirley Steffe (Michael Chartier) of Clive, Iowa, DeeEtta Riley (Patrick Cheever) of Sioux City, and Dawn (Bob) Cooper of Sioux City.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents
