28 December 1938Funeral services for Joseph Ray, 67, of 4125 Floyd, who died in his home Tuesday night, will be conducted Thursday at 11 a. m. in the Nelson-Berger funeral home. Rev. J. E. Feller will officiate. Burial will be in the cemetery at Little Sioux, Ia. Mr. Ray had operated a barber shop in Leeds 40 years until his retirement two years ago.
Mr. Ray came to Sioux City in 1892 and opened a barber shop at 825 Floyd. During his long period of barber service in the Sioux City suburb he had operated shops at 4025 Floyd, 4101 Floyd and 4200 Polk.
Mr. Ray was born June 2, 1871, in McHenry county, Illinois. As a child, he moved with his parents to Onawa, Ia., in a covered wagon.
Surviving are a brother, George Ray, and a sister, Mrs. W. F. Wall, both of Sioux City.
