J. H. Melott, 80, former Sioux Cityan, died Saturday at Portland, Ore., according to word received here Tuesday. The body will be returned to Sioux City for burial.

Mr. Melott had resided in Sioux City for many years. At the time of his death he was residing with a son at Portland.

Surviving are his widow, seven sons, five daughters and a stepdaughter and step-son.
The body will arrive here Thursday and will be taken to West's funeral home. Christian Science services will be read at 2 p. m. Thursday by Miss Edith Kamp.
