Otis F. "Bill" Davis, 78, of Sioux City, died Thursday July 13, 1989, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Whiting, with the Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Burial will be in the Whiting City Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.Mr. Davis was born Feb. 20, 1911, at Coal Springs, S.D., the son of John E. and Cecelia (Orton) Davis. He moved with his family to Wakonda, S.D., where he grew up and attended Wakonda High School. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army National Guard in S.D. He moved to Onawa in 1930, and married Dorothy Robinson Oct. 2, 1940 in Superior, Nebr.
He traveled as a hog buyer for Armour and Co. in various communities, and for a number of years owned and operated the Dan Dee Trading Post in Onawa. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1960. He was an auctioneer for 50 years, and the past 30 years had dealt in antiques and collectibles.
He was baptized and a member of the Wakonda Congregational Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, John L. Davis of Sioux City; three daughters, Mrs. Jerry "Scotty" (Marty) Warrender and Mrs. Lonnie (Patricia) Hanson, both of Washta, Iowa, and Mrs. Fritz (Cheryl) Schemmel of Sherman, Texas; one brother, J.L. "Jim" Davis of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Vaughn (June) Peel of Orange, Calif., and Mrs. Floyd (Yvonne) Marks of Chino, Calif., and one aunt, Mrs. Doris Orton Greear of Sioux Center, Iowa.
