23 October 2000Madelon Ethel (Weldon) Sewell, 80, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at the Oddessy Hospice following a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Mrs. Sewell was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Sioux City. She attended Whittier Elementary, East Junior High and graduated from East High School in 1938. She married George Thomas Sewell on Aug. 6, 1951 in Los Angeles. They lived in Mexico City, for 11 years before moving back to California. He died in December 1964. She had been employed by Faucett Publications, ITT Cannon and most recently as secretary for Trinity Community Presbyterian Church in North Hollywood, where she worked for 16 years. She retired in 1997 and moved to Las Vegas.
She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star Chapter 502 in Sioux City and also was a member of Rainbow Girls.
She enjoyed painting, sewing,genealogy, bowling and travel.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Steven and Debby Sewell of Las Vegas; two nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Upton, and a brother, Dr. Robert W. Weldon.
