16 April 1946George Elliott Hughes, 72-year-old farmer residing in the vicinity of Hinton, died Tuesday morning in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Hacker, 4525 Floyd avenue, after an illness of three months.
Mr. Hughes was born December 2, 1873, in Nichols county, Neb. He was married August 24, 1893, to Eva Martin at Red Cloud, Neb. In 1898 the family moved to Whiting, and he engaged in farming there before coming to Sioux City.
Surviving are two sons, Milo Hughes of Merrill, and Floyd of Sioux City; seven daughters, Mrs. Harry Fosnot and Mrs. Floyd Reed, both of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Franklin Crooks, Mrs. Edwin Ahlquist, Mrs. Delbert Henshaw and Mrs. Hacker, all of Sioux City, and Mrs. Otto Feister of Moville; 29 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
One daughter Myra died while the family resided in Whiting.
The body is at the Westcott-Doughty-Chandler funeral home
