Marcella B. Usher, 85, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Nathan Houfek and Gary Harris officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. today at her residence, 122 Stewart Ave. Arrangements are being handled by Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Marcella Usher was born May 6, 1918, in Schleswig, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Lenora (Hill) Baeth. She attended school in Deadwood, S.D.

She married Hallock B. Usher on July 30, 1939, in Ponca, Neb. He died Oct. 5, 1964, in Sioux City. She had been a Sioux City resident since 1937. She and her husband owned and operated the Vitaseal Restaurant for 25 years. She worked for Grandy Pratt Insurance for 17 years, retiring as a claims supervisor in 1982. She worked at the Convention Center and Auditorium as a waitress and also worked at SCORE for five years.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Spirit of Life Church. She was a 21-year member of the American Business Women's Association.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Usher of Sioux City; a daughter, Teresa Dickson and her husband, Mike of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Roger and his wife, Stacey Dickson, and Matthew and his wife, Melanie Dickson; and two great-grandchildren, Jolie and Lynnsey.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ruth and Evelyn.
