SIOUX CITY | Carol Ann Even, 73, of Catawba Island, Ohio, formerly of Sioux City, died March 27, 2014.

Services were held in Marblehead, Ohio.

Carol was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Hartington, Neb., the daughter of Anton and Hilda (Jilg) Lenzen. She grew up in Sioux City, and graduated from Bishop Heelan in 1959.

She married James P. Even on Sept. 23, 1961. They moved to Medina, Ohio, in 1966.

After raising her family, she worked at the former Central Reserve Life Insurance Co. In 1993, Jim and Carol retired to Catawba Island. She worked as a breakfast room hostess at the Sleep Inn.

She volunteered as a teacher's aide. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, altar-rosary society, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Isabella Guild. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved fishing with her family on Lake Erie.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; children, Jim (Susette) Even Jr. of Solon, Ohio, Tony (Jackie) Even of Strongsville, Ohio, Cathy (Mike) Langford of Cincinnati, Diane (Dean) Dolata of Aurora, Ohio, and Mari Jo (Scott) Westfall of Stow, Ohio; grandchildren, Bryan, Ben, Megan, Kerrim, Alex, Jessie, Jacob, Joe, Adam, Jared, Julia, Ryan, Tom and Anthony; and sisters, Bonnie Brown of Dallas, and Sandy (Jack) Berger and Dan (Sherry) Lenzen, all of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Maury Visnow; and her brother, David Lenzen.
