SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Joyce Gladys Malloy-Bressler, 85, of South Sioux City died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Printy officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Salix, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Northside Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Joyce was born Dec. 24, 1917, in Elton, La., the daughter of Ambrose and Bernice (Pilgrim) Chelsey. She came to Iowa as a child and attended school in Sloan, Iowa, and lived there until 1935.

In May 1935, she married John Thomas Malloy and lived on a farm near Salix, Iowa, for 39 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix at that time. She sent their children to St. Joseph School. The couple started a shelling, trucking and cattle business and they also farmed. Mr. Malloy died Feb. 11, 1974, in Onawa, Iowa.

In 1979 she married James Bressler and moved to South Sioux City. He died in 1996.

She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Elizabeth and Donald Morey of Sioux City; six sons and their wives, John and Betty Malloy of Chicago, Ill., Richard and Lois Malloy of Sioux City, Daniel and Carol Malloy of Sioux City, Timothy and Mary Malloy of Lawton, Iowa, David and Paula Malloy of Sloan, Iowa, and Patrick Malloy of Omaha; two sisters, Ella Malloy of Salix, Iowa, and Florence Colman of Sioux City; two brothers and their wives, Glenn and Mary Chelsey of Sioux City, and Donald and Judy Chelsey of Moville, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Judy and Kenny Miller of Indiana, and Janet and Larry Cook of Grand Island, Neb.; five step-grandchildren; and 10 great-step-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas Malloy; a daughter, Katherine Orr-Bailey; a grandson, Russell Malloy; and two sisters, Gladys Hoverman and Ella Lorraine Becker.

Her sons will be her pallbearers.
