Verle Allen Wetmore, 91, of Westminster, California, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 8, 12:30 p.m. at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, Los Alamitos, California, with. Father Andrew Zziwa officiating.

Burial was in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, California.

Mr. Wetmore was born July 17, 1912, at Correctionville, Iowa, the son of John H. and Ruby M. (Quintard) Wetmore, the owners of the Dodge dealership in Correctionville. He had a younger brother, Robert.

Verle attended school in Correctionville for all twelve grades, and never missed one day of school. He was on the high school basketball team, played trumpet in the band and graduated in 1930 valedictorian of his class. He attended Morningside College in Sioux City.

In 1933 he married Lucille Fitzpatrick from Anthon. They had three children, Sharon, in 1935; John, 1936; and Linda, 1942.

Verle was employed by the Los Angeles Transit Lines and retired in 1975 after 39 years of service.

Verle enjoyed driving anywhere across the United States. His wife passed away in 1989 after 56 years of marriage. He loved and was loved by his family.

Survivors include his three children, 10 grand-children and 17 great grandchildren
