25 May 2011Carol Carter, 65, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral service were held on Saturday, May 14, 1:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Correctionville, IA, with Pastor Sheryl Ashley officiating. Denise Knaack served as organist and Roger Hladik, soloist.
Pallbearers were Darren Meister, Ryan Brauninger, Josh Thompson, Beau Brauninger, William Thompson, Jesse Pedersen, Tyler Allen, Tony Manderscheid, Ben Anderson and Brian Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Shane Thompson, Mike Brown, Tim Wilson, Jonathan Dixit, Wade Riley, and Jason Hendrickson. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 13, at Grace United Methodist Church. Interment was at Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, Iowa, under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Service.
Carol Carter, daughter of Fred B. and Norma N.
(White) Thompson, was born June 7, 1945 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was raised on a farm northwest of Anthon, Iowa. She graduated from Anthon-Oto High School with the Class of 1963. After high school Carol worked in Sioux City where she met Larry Carter while he was stationed at the Sioux City Air Base and they were married December 17, 1966. The couple lived in Gettysburg, South Dakota. They returned to Sioux City for several years, then moved to Des Moines where they owned and operated JC's Auto Parts. Carol was President of JC's and was also president of ACE Distributors in Sioux City for several years. Carol had a variety of jobs in the Des Moines/ Ankeny area and in later years worked several part-time jobs, just to keep busy.Carol loved to read and do crossword puzzles, but especially loved time spent with her three darling granddaughters.
Carol will be missed by her children, Cara Carter Hulick and her husband Tim of Indianola, Iowa, and Timmy Carter of Ankeny; three granddaughters, Kailey, Morgan and Kassie Hulick; her siblings, Joan (Mrs. Mark) Meister, and Doug (Shirley)Thompson of Correctionville; Norm (Laura Thompson of Browerville, MN; Steve (Sheryl) Thompson of Sioux City; Sandy (Mrs. Beau) Ruleaux of Storm Lake; three aunts, Vertress Fitzpatrick: of Minnesota; Doris Omvig of Urbandale, Iowa, and Betty Card of Sioux City plus many nieces and nephews, cousins, and special lifetime friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Fred Thompson in 2007, and her former husband, Larry Carter in 2007.
