15 March 2014SIOUX CITY | Charlotte M. Haley, 92, the original creator of the breast cancer awareness ribbon, of Simi Valley, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Feb. 2, 2014, in Simi Valley.
Memorial services will be today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Simi Valley. Arrangements are with Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley.
Charlotte became well known through a documentary titled, "Pink Ribbon, Inc.," which highlighted the profit motive behind the use of the breast cancer ribbon campaigns, that she started in 1991.
Charlotte and her late husband, Robert G. Haley, were both active participants at First Presbyterian Church, community theater, Goodwill and PEO/BIL.
Survivors include her three children, Leslie, Nancy and Robert; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Iris.
