SIOUX CITY | Vera V. Smith, 88, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Benson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Vera was born on May 3, 1925, in Elk Point, S.D., to Lillie (Cooper) Lethcoe and the late Thomas Lethcoe.

She was married to Roy Smith on Jan. 21, 1944, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death in August of 1956 in Sioux City. Vera worked as a laborer for Zenith and Tastee Inn & Out as well as a loving mother and homemaker.

Vera loved to play bingo.

She is survived by her daughter, Lillie (Glenn) Parrett of Sioux City; sons, Roy (Reida) Smith and Melvin Smith, both of Shepherdsville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Massey of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Bernard Smith and Allen Barnes; sisters, Luella Hubert and Myrtle Hanson; and a brother, Russell Lethcoe.

Pallbearers will be Tom Parrett, Cody Parrett, Colton Parrett, Nicholas Miller, Terry Miller and Edward Parrett.
