Ralph H. Benton, 77, formerly of Oto, died Friday, December 13, 2002 at Genesis Medical Center East Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial were held on Monday, December 16, 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Davenport. Burial was in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.

Visitation was held Sunday afternoon at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home.

Ralph Benton was born February 15, 1925 in Oto, Iowa to Jess and Bernice (Green) Benton. He married Doris Holman on August 19,1947 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Mr. Benton worked for The Rock Island Argus & The Dispatch, retiring in 1999 after 27 years.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Michael Knisley, Springfield, Missouri; Shannon and Stephen Millard, Princeton, Illinois; and Stacy and Todd Voelliger, Bettendorf, Iowa; a sister, Janice (Mrs.Jim ) Whitney, Colorado; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jess Benton
