SIOUX CITY -- Doris M. Binning, 84, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died Nov. 28, 2009 at her home.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, with the Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Private family entombment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be left at lincolnfh.

She was born April 27, 1925, in Lincoln, to John E. and Greta L. (Tager) Frahm. Doris attended Lincoln High School and the University of Nebraska, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and graduated with a degree in business administration in 1947. She received the William Gold Key Award, which was awarded to the outstanding business administration student.

Doris married John H. Binning in 1948 and they had two children. She received local and national recognition for her work with the PTA and sponsored the Blue Birds, together with participating in many of her children's activities.

Doris was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and the Lincoln Country Club.

Doris was an accomplished interior decorator and artist who organized and operated Coach House Antiques with son, Brad, and her parents. She was a gracious hostess of many events and social functions, both in and outside Nebraska, and was a gourmet cook and baker. For 60 years, Doris was a true partner to her husband and assisted John in his law practice and with his many duties and obligations as an insurance executive. Doris was a loving and creative force in her family's endeavors for many years and will be truly missed.

Doris is survived by her husband; daughter, Robin L. Binning of Bellevue, Neb.; and son, Brad C. Binning of Lincoln.
