12 June 2013SIOUX CITY | Marcella "Sadie" Adel Teach, 91, of Osage, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, peacefully passed into eternal life on May 24, 2013 at Essentia Medical Center in Fargo, N.D., with her loved ones at her side.
Services were held May 28 at Grace Community Church in Osage, where the Rev. Paul McKibben officiated. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Osage. To view the video tribute or to leave online condolences please visit www.jonespearson.com.
Marcella was born on Feb. 18, 1922, in Sioux City, to Fredric "Fritz" and Adelia "Daisy" (Mortens) Johannsen. She graduated from the Sioux City East High School in 1940, afterwards attending Denver University and the University of Iowa.
She was united in marriage to Frank G. Teach, Sr, in 1943, an ensign in the U.S. Naval Air Corps. She was a housewife until she went to work at Sioux City Consistory in the early 1960s. Upon retirement, she moved to Straight Lake in Osage, where they had been long-time summer residents.
Marcella loved the outdoors. She was a lifeguard and swimming instructor in her early years, active in the Cub and Boy Scout program, secretary of the Sioux City PTA, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a St. Joseph’s Hospital Gift Shop volunteer, a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Crystal Rhythm Dance Club and Osage Lions Club. She loved the water and woods of Minnesota, bass fishing being a favorite pastime. Sadie also enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and watching hummingbirds and loons.
She is survived by her sons, Frank Jr. (Linda) and Fred (Marilyn); and grandchildren, Tammy, Ryan, Kara (Colin) Warren and Kiley.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Frank Sr. in 1992.
