SIOUX CITY -- Sara Verson, 95, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at NorthPark Senior Living.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home in Arlington Heights, Ill. Burial will be in Shalom Memorial Park Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Sara was born May 28, 1914, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Jacob and Pearl (Mindel) Neidorf. She graduated from Chicago Normal College at the age of 19 with a degree in teaching.

She married Ben Verson on July 13, 1935, in Chicago. Ben died in 1969. She had lived in Mount Vernon, Ohio, Glencoe, Ill., and in Sioux City since 1973.

She was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and the Sisterhood. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and being with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Marcia (Jack) Lahart of San Rafael, Calif., and Gail (Jack) Bernstein of Dakota Dunes; and a son, Jack (Missy) Verson of Saratoga, Calif. She was Nonnie to grandchildren, David Bernstein, Randi (Eric) Lachter, Benjamin (Carolyn) Bernstein, Brian (Meg) Lahart, Bradley (Kim) Lahart, Jon (Barb) Verson, Josh (Kana) Verson and Jeffrey Verson; and great-grandchildren, Leila Bernstein, Sonia and Liza Lachter, Dawson, Wellsley, Jillian and Adam Lahart and Juliette and Francesca Verson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Max and Sam.

Memorials may be made in her name to Congregation Beth Shalom, Hospice of Siouxland or Girls Inc. of Sioux City.
