SERGEANT BLUFF -- Frances J. Maupin, 85, of Sergeant Bluff died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at her residence.

Per her wishes, her body was cremated and burial will take place at a later date. Visitation with the family will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Waterbury Funeral Service.

Frances was born on July 5, 1924, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Troy and Hazel (Foster) Blankenship. The family moved to Lawton, Iowa, when Frances was 10 years old. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1941. She worked for Maupin’s Pharmacy in Lawton and then in Sergeant Bluff.

Frances was united in marriage to Morris William Maupin on Aug. 18, 1948, in Salix, Iowa. They owned and operated Maupin’s Pharmacy in Sergeant Bluff until closing it in 1969.

Frances was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, reading and her bridge group. But most of all, she enjoyed the time spent will Bill. They took family vacations to Minnesota, and later, with Bill to Las Vegas.

Frances is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Sara and her husband, Rich Crawford of Sioux City, Mark Maupin of Anchorage, Alaska, Paul Maupin of Willow, Alaska, Jean Maupin and her husband, Howard Loveall of Sergeant Bluff, and Anne and her husband, Rollie Cook of Sergeant Bluff; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Eric; and her brother, Maurice Blankenship.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Siouxland.
