Robert L. "Bob" Maaske 1946 - 2009

SIOUX CITY -- Robert L. "Bob" Maaske, 63, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at his residence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ralph Shorey officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer Service at 7 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Robert was born on Jan. 23, 1946, in Sioux City, the son of Harold and Valarie (Pixler) Maaske. He graduated from Central High School.

Bob was married to Barb Nelson. They had three children. Bob later was united in marriage to Carol Diediker on Sept. 15, 1984, and had three children.

Bob worked as a self-employed floor installer. His passion was woodworking and creating wood crafts. Bob was an avid Hawkeye fan. He was involved in sports and coached his children in baseball and softball.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carol; three sons, Brad Maaske and his wife Katie of Omaha, Dustin Maaske of Omaha and Robbie Maaske of Iowa City; three daughters, Michelle Hall of London, England, Cora Maaske of Sioux City and Christa Maaske of Sioux City; four grandchildren; four brothers, Ken Maaske and his wife, Tammy of Sioux City, Duane Maaske and his wife, Patsy of Sioux City, Lenard and his wife, Margaret of Bartlett, Texas, and Will Maaske and his wife, Terri of Jefferson, S.D.; one sister, Nina Harder of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Kay Knudsen and Montie Green.
