SIOUX CITY -- Sharon K. Jensen, wife, mother and grandmother, passed quietly from this life on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in Sioux City. She endured the physical and emotional pains of a long-term illness with dignity and grace, and has been rewarded with eternal peace.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of All Nations, 3100 W. Fourth Street, Sioux City, with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Sharon was born on May 25, 1946, in Sioux City, the daughter of Raymond and June Hansen. She attended school in Sioux City.

She married Leslie Jensen on May 1, 1964. Sharon worked at the Downtown Cleaners, but left the job to take on the career responsibilities of home and family.

Sharon was simply a good woman who devoted her life to family. She and Les are the proud parents of two sons. Scott married Tess, and their children are Mason and Mya. Chad married Tanya, and their son is Zane. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn (Paul) Dunn; and brothers, Greg (Lia) Hansen and Danny (Jackie) Hansen, and their children. To the Jensens she was a great sister-in-law, and to her siblings she was a treasured sister and aunt.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws; and nephews, Bobby and Troy.

Sharon was a gentle, kind woman who did not speak ill of others. Les recalled Sharon's love for having parties at her home, surrounded by friends and family. She hated going to other social events, as she got more pleasure from being in her own home, surrounded by familiar things. She loved to cook, sew and tend her yard. She once said, "My home is my job", and she was very good at her job. At some of the more trying times in her illness, Les often said, "You're crazy about me, ain't that right, honey?" Sharon would manage a smile and say, "Yeah, yeah".

Pallbearers will be Richard, Peter, Orland, and Kevin Strom, Scott Green, and Celeste Durant. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Whitney and Dean Sampson.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the many doctors and nurses who cared for Sharon these two years. Special thanks to Dr. Blankenship and his staff for their compassion and professionalism. Thanks to Westwood Nursing Home and Hospice. Les expresses grateful appreciation to the John Morrell Company for allowing him to leave work unexpectedly and for lengthy periods to love and care for his beloved Sharon.
