James A. "Jimmy" Thorson, 58, of Payson, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, July 14, 2006, in Payson of a sudden illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The body was cremated. There will be no visitation.

Jimmy was born July 5, 1948, in Sioux City, the son of Arnold and Shirley (Wenzel) Thorson. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Schools.

He had lived in Arizona for the past 25 years. He was a building contractor building new homes.

He enjoyed fishing, boating and race cars. He was a NASCAR fan.

Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Thorson of Moline, Ill., and Sheila Thorson of Davenport, Iowa; a son, Jimmy Thorson Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; his mother, Shirley Thorson of Sioux City; five brothers and sisters, Stanley Thorson and his wife, Anita, of Sioux City, Monty Thorson and his wife, Cathy, of Sioux City, Debbie Stabile and her husband, Frank, of Sioux City, Mark Thorson and his wife, Tamara, of Sioux City and David Thorson and his significant other, Joann Jessip, of Sioux City; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold.
