13 Oct 2009SIOUX CITY -- Alice Irene Thoreson, 97, of St. Paul, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, in St. Paul.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roseville Lutheran Church in Roseville, Minn. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Roseville Memorial Chapel in Roseville, Minn.
Alice was born July 26, 1912, to Oscar and Nettie (Melby) Wingate, on a farm near Soldier, Iowa. She married Howard Thoreson in 1945. They lived in Sioux City until moving to Shoreview, Minn., in 1980. She taught school for many years.
She was very active in the Lutheran Church. She loved music and reading.
She is survived by her son, Curtis of St. Paul; and 23 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents; a brother, Harlow; and a sister, Nadine Berens.
