Michael E. Standage, 49, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Following cremation, graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa, with the Rev. Valerie Heller of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Mike was born Dec. 13, 1955, in Maryville, Mo., the son of Duane E. and Dorothy (Farnsworth) Standage. He served in the U.S. Army. He moved away from Sioux City in 1977, living in several different cities, primarily Houston, Texas. He moved from Houston back to Sioux City in 1997. While in Houston, he had been a bail bondsman. More recently, he was self-employed as a handyman.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed fishing. He was an animal lover who often volunteered at the Humane Society.

Survivors include a brother and his wife, James K. and Karen Standage of Sioux City; a sister, Patricia G. "Patty" McAdoo of Omaha; five nieces and nephews, Steven McAdoo of Rhode Island, Joseph McAdoo of Sioux City, Edward "Jay" McAdoo of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jenny Evans of Eugene, Ore., Jared Mittle of Sioux City and Alec Standage of Sioux City; 10 great-nieces and great-nephews; and several cousins including Robert Pritchard of Spencer, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
