21 February 2007LAWTON, Iowa -- Betty Lenore (Scoles) Butcher Sieger, 77, of Lawton died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center in Kingsley, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Peggy Hegeman officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville, Iowa.
Betty Lenore Scoles was born April 20, 1929, in Moville, Iowa, the daughter of Claude Clarmont Scoles Sr. and Emma Valera (Groom) Scoles. She grew up on a farm outside of Moville and graduated from Moville High School. She attended and graduated from Samuel's Beauty School in Sioux City.
She was united in marriage to Robert Morris Butcher on Sept. 17, 1948, in Moville. To this union were born two sons, David Brian and Donald Mark Butcher. Bob passed away March 21, 1951.
She was united in marriage to Walter Ellison Sieger on Aug. 23, 1952, To this union were born two daughters, Vicki Lynn and Becky Sue. Walter passed away July 1, 1983.
She worked at the Lawton-Bronson Community School for 21 years as the hot lunch supervisor.
In September 1984, she was elected to the school board and held that position for 15 years. She served as president for many years. She served as elder in the Presbyterian Church, as an active member of the Friendship Center, a Cub Scout leader, F.A.N. Club member and Dancing Grannies and Grandpa's. She enjoyed baking, volunteering, her family and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Dave Butcher of Mesa, Ariz., and Don Butcher and his wife, Sue of Le Mars, Iowa; two daughters, Vicki Wiese and her friend, Guy Enger of Appleton, Wis., and Becky and her husband, Mick Stilwell of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Christopher Butcher and his fiancee, Lindsey Johnson and her son, Zachary, Stephanie Butcher, Landon Wiese and Georgia and Natalie Stilwell; and a great-grandchild, Keeyon Butcher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; five sisters; two brothers; and a son-in-law, Luane Wiese.
