MOVILLE, Iowa -- Lucille J. Schwedler, 89, formerly of Moville entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at the Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center in Correctionville, Iowa, where she had been a resident for the past year.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, with the Rev. Michael Kroona officiating. Private graveside services will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Lucille was born Jan. 15, 1915, in Lawton, the daughter of Herbert and Edna (DeLaughter) Yates. She lived her whole life in the Lawton, Climbing Hill, Pierson and Moville, Iowa areas.

She married Edwin G. Schwedler on Feb. 2, 1933, in Sioux City, on the 25th wedding anniversary of her parents. Her husband passed away in 1998 at the age of 88.

Besides being a devoted and loving homemaker, she worked seven years at Methodist Hospital and 22 years as a buyer for Sioux City Stationery.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Martha Circle, Country Club Meadow Larks, Women's Club, Garden Club, Card Club and active at the Moville Senior Center.

She will be remembered for her zest for life. Everyone who knew her will remember the joy of going to her door and being welcomed with her beautiful smile, a cheery hello and being invited in for a cup of coffee and always one of her homemade desserts. She was a beautiful person inside and out and will be greatly missed by her loving family, whom she treasured and her many friends who knew and loved her. Her favorite past times included, spending time with family and friends, browsing through cook books, baking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, golf and playing cards, just to name a few.

She will continue to live in the hearts of her daughter, Jan and her husband, Clete Ortmeier of Milford, Iowa; a son, Gene, who lived at the nursing home with her; a daughter, Shirley and her husband, Pat McCormick of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Dreeszen of Akron, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Gerald Schwedler; a sister, Evelyn Ragan; six brothers, Herbert, Clifford, Fred, Virgil, Chet and Donald Yates; and a grandson.

Pallbearers will be Mike and Nick Miller, Curt Ortmeier, Allan Odle, Kasey Quinlain and Greg Meister.
