23 October 2004LAWTON, Iowa -- Jeanette I. Rubsam, 86, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Lawton, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at Bethany Nursing Home in Sioux Falls.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.
Jeanette Rubsam was born Jan. 26, 1918, in Ashton, Iowa, the daughter of John and Emma (Barker) Mastbergen.
She married George Rubsam on April 9, 1936, at Primghar, Iowa. She moved to Lawton in 1942 and later moved to Sioux Falls in 1998. Jeanette assisted with the family farming operation.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking and was a real homemaker.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Kenneth and Ann Rubsam of Ellicott City, Md.; a daughter and her husband, Janice and John Rohan of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; a brother and his wife, Elvin and Flossi Mastbergen of Melvin, Iowa; a sister, Helen Jensen of Stockton, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
Memorials may be directed to the Sioux City Chapter Alzheimer's Association.
