7 October 2005Hattie H. Rahtz, 86, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa, with the Rev. Del Olivier of Augustana Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Hattie was born Oct. 10, 1918, in rural Waterbury, Neb., the daughter of Reinhold and Bertha (Pansegrau) Rahtz. She had lived on a farm near Lawton for many years and had lived in Hinton, Iowa, for the last five years. Most recently, she had resided at Bickford Cottage in Sioux City.
She had worked in the shipyard in Portland, Ore., during World War II. She worked for Cudahy's and Wincharger after moving to the Siouxland area.
She was of the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed reading and feeding the birds and animals on the farm.
Survivors include three sisters, Alma Schoenborn of Portland, Ore., Emma Anderson of Lawton, Iowa, and Aletha Wallin of Rosemead, Calif.; several nieces and nephews, Sandra Petterson, Neil and Kathy Schoenborn, Betty and Richard Bohlke, Debra and Terry McAllister, Dennis and Julie Anderson, Kathleen and Tony Smith, Gretchen and Adam Bull, Jean and David Gibson and Reid and Rachel Wallin; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Baldwin and Ervin.
Pallbearers will be Eric Klien, Terry McAllister, Sean McAllister, Devin McAllister, Charles Neal and Marvin Pansegrau.
