LAWTON, Iowa -- Richard L. Moore, 75, of Lawton died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Spokane, Wash.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.

Richard L. Moore was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Sioux City, the son of Charles and Edith (Perry) Moore. He attended school in Washta, Iowa.

He married Wilma Sands on March 10, 1946. Mr. Moore farmed in the Washta, Akron and Lawton areas. He owned Bronson Lumber and Feed for 26 years until his retirement in 1992.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton. Mr. Moore was a member of the Volunteer Fire and Rescue for Bronson for several years. He loved his wife, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved the community and the activities involved. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He once shot a buffalo, and he also "roped a bear and lived to tell about it."

Survivors include his wife, Wilma of Lawton; two daughters, Helen and her husband, Myron McLarnan of Bothell, Wash., and Shirley Main of Lawton; a son, Rick and his wife, Marcia Moore of Sioux City; a sister, Mary Conley; three brothers, George Moore, Stanley Moore and Frank Moore; seven grandchildren, Christi Fortier, Jennifer McLarnan, Kelli Larson, Jessica Doran, Teresa Doran, Casey Moore and Sarah Main; two great-grandchildren, Emily Larson and Ciara Fortier; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Moore in infancy; and a brother, Charles "Chalk" Moore.

Pallbearers will be Perry Conley, David Moore, Alan Moore, Ron Sands, Jason Conley and Todd Conley.

Contributions made be made in his name to Siouxland Regional Cancer Center.
