Joseph Lewis Irwin, 66, of Sioux City was found dead at his residence of natural causes Thursday, April 17, 2003.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa, with the Rev. Dale Jirousek officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.

Mr. Irwin was born Dec. 26, 1936, in Woodbury County, rural Lawton, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Hazel F. (Lewis) Irwin. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He married Charlene R. Batchelder on May 6, 1957. He owned and operated Irwin's Auto Repair Shops in South Sioux City and Sioux City. He later was employed with Trio Auto Salvage and Garvin Truck Salvage in South Sioux City.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Joseph R. and Beverly Irwin of Dakota City; a daughter and her husband, Debra and Henry VanDoran of Blaine, Minn.; two sisters, Eva Weaver of Lake Andes, S.D., and Ina Baker of Mississippi; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
