LAWTON, Iowa -- Mary Horsley, 85, of Lawton died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital following a sudden heart attack.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, with Dr. Wayne Peach officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, rural Lawton. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Mary was born Jan. 2, 1919, at Mansfield, S.D., the daughter of William and Mary Ellen (Kellogg) Mead. She was raised in South Dakota and graduated from Ravina High School.

She married Harold Horsley on Jan. 24, 1942, at South Sioux City. The couple farmed near Lawton. She also worked at Cudahy Packing Co.

Mary was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, United Presbyterian Women and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Variety Club.

Survivors include her husband, Harold, of Lawton; three sons and their wives, Terry and Marilyn, Roger and Sue and Randy and Sheryl, all of Lawton; seven grandchildren, Wendy (Matt) Pearson of Kansas City, Mo., Brent Horsley of Denver, Colo., Tami (Todd) Van Rooyan of Sioux City, Kevin, Heidi and Heath Horsley, all of Lawton and Robin (Lance) Walker of Lawton; nine great-grandchildren, Alysa and Brady Van Rooyan, Toby, Kylie and Kendra Horsley, Jacob, Emily and Bennett Pearson and Samantha Walker; and a brother, Sam Mead, of Friendship, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 10 brothers and sisters.
