29 July 2005LAWTON, Iowa -- Geraldine Gano "Gerri" Harrison, 71, of Lawton died Saturday, July 23, 2005.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Banner Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.
Gerri was born Sept. 1, 1933, in rural Cherokee County, Iowa, to Ray and Vada (Miller) Wenzel. She grew up in the Kingsley, Iowa, area and attended rural school.
She married Darrell Harrison on Oct. 21, 1949, in Sioux City. The couple had three children, Garry, Susan and Terry. The couple made their home near Lawton and farmed. They retired from farming in 1984. Mr. Harrison died March 10, 1985. She went to work at the Wendy's restaurant on Gordon Drive and had been there for almost 20 years at the time of her death.
Her hobbies included playing cards and putting puzzles together with the ladies from Lawton. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Harrison of Sioux City, who died July 26, 2005, in a car accident near Lawton, and Garry Harrison and his wife, Kathy of Lincoln, Neb.; a daughter and her husband, Susan and Phillip Gregg of Lawton; a sister-in-law, Deloris Wenzel; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; her parents; two brothers, Marlin "Babe" Wenzel and Verlyn Wenzel; a daughter-in-law, LaDona Harrison; her mother-in-law, Elsie Harrison; a brother-in-law, Duane Harrison; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Wenzel; her special friend, Gerald Thornsen; and a nephew, Neil Wenzel.
Pallbearers will be her six grandchildren and her son, Bill, John, Tom, Scott Harrison, Sarah Watchorn, Cindy Fink and Garry Harrison.
