8 September 2004LAWTON, Iowa -- Mabel D. Grigg, 86, of Lawton died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City after a long illness with Alzheimer's.
The body was cremated. There will be no visitation or memorial services per her wishes. Private burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Mabel was born June 17, 1918, at Lawton, the daughter of Clifford A. and Laura (Eberly) Willer. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1936.
She married Cecil Howard in 1938 in Sioux City. He died in 1948 of injuries received in a truck accident. She married Don Grigg on Oct. 8, 1952.
She worked at E & W Hatchery in Lawton and at First Trust and Savings Bank for several years. She was a wonderful homemaker.
She was a member of the Lawton Community Presbyterian Church and the Lawton American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Don; two sons, Tony Grigg and his wife Cathy of Sioux City and Jack Howard of Lawton; a daughter-in-law, Leslie Howard of Lawton; a sister and her husband, Leona and Harold Howard of Lawton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Mark Howard.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association of Siouxland or Hospice of Siouxland.
