LAWTON, Iowa -- Betty L. Grigg-Andrus, 81, of Lawton died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, with William B. Thornton officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.

Betty was born June 6, 1924, near Lawton on the family farm, to Fred and Evelyn (Hegstrom) Grigg. She grew up and attended Lawton Consolidated School, graduating in 1942. She attended Morningside College for a short time before moving to California to work.

She met Robert Andrus in California and the couple got married on Oct. 6, 1945, in San Diego, Calif. When Bob was discharged from the U.S. Navy, the couple moved to Lawton. She worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Iowa in Sioux City.

She enjoyed the time spent with her fellow retirees from Blue Cross and Blue Shield Group. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a past president of the Lawton School board. She was very active at the Community Presbyterian Church, the choir and in the United Presbyterian Women's group. Music was her real passion and she loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She loved her dogs, enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and co-workers. She also enjoyed reading, traveling and latch hook.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Andrus of Lawton; a sister and her husband, Lucille and Herbert Rhine of Lawton; a niece and her husband, Joyce and Jack Shumansky of Burnsville, Minn.; a great-niece, Jaime Shumansky of Burnsville, Minn.; and a nephew, Daniel Rhine of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a great-nephew.
