11 March 2009LAWTON, Iowa -- Anna M. Anderson, 83, of Lawton passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff, with the Rev. Michael Ring of Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Anna was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Pierre, S.D., the daughter of Roy and Ethel (Wright) Spoonemore. Growing up, she enjoyed the summers in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
In 1950, she was united in marriage to Bruce Anderson in Omaha. They lived near Lawton most of the rest of their lives. Bruce died in 2007. She was a nurse's aide and worked at various nursing homes in the area. She retired in 1999.
She was a hard worker, who loved being outside gardening or mowing. She wrote poetry and had one published in the 1980s.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce A. Anderson and his wife, Cathy and Robert M. Anderson and his wife, Debbie, all of Lawton; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; and four sisters.
