SIOUX CITY | Alan J. Hansen, 58, of Sioux City died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Morningside Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Koehler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are with Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.

Alan was born Aug. 16, 1954, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of E. Farrell and Lyall (Butler) Hansen. As a child, he moved to Sioux City with his family. Alan graduated from East High School in 1972. He continued his education at Iowa State University, and then Briar Cliff College, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree.

Alan married Loretta "Lori" Wells on July 24, 1976. They made their home in Sioux City.

Alan worked as a writer for William Bass Advertising for more than 19 years. He helped create and was director of the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. He had worked for Blue Earth Marketing in Winnebago, Neb.

He was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church, a clerk of Session, a church elder and a member of the choir. He was also a member of MRHD.

Survivors include his wife, Lori Hansen of Sioux City; son, Jeff Hansen of Sioux City; daughter, Cheri Hansen of Sioux City; mother, Lyall Hansen of Sioux City; sisters, Linda (Greg) Puttmann of Pierson, Iowa, and Susan (Rick) Stoulil of Austin, Minn.; and brothers, Paul Hansen of Correctionville, Iowa, Brian (Tina) Hansen of Sioux City and Keith (Eileen) Hansen of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his father, E. Farrell; and a son, Christopher.
