SIOUX CITY | Mark E. Ruba, 63, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley, Iowa, with the Rev. Mark Stoll officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley. Mark was born in Sioux City, on June 2, 1949, to Edwin and Maxine (Nash) Ruba. He was a graduate of Kingsley-Pierson High School Class of 1967 and received his bachelors degree at Briar Cliff University in 1971.

He was a retired U.S. Senior Customs official for the Dept. of Homeland Security at JFK International Airport. He devoted several years of service to VISTA.

He was a loyal contributor to numerous charities. Mark loved fishing, photography, reading, music, Twin Bings and spending time with family and friends. Mark was a devoted son of Maxine (Nash) Ruba, and a beloved brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend.

He is survived by his sisters, Karen (Ruba) Meyer and Sandy (Wayne) Mills; a brother, Denny (Lisa) Ruba; sister-in-laws, Pat Ruba and Joyce Harrison.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his siblings, Darlene, Larry, Ronald and Jerry Ruba, and Nolan Harrison.
