SIOUX CITY -- Berniece F. Lammers, 96, Sioux City died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at A Sioux City nursing home.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Theresa Gerhke-Herwynen will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Berniece was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Sioux City; she was the daughter of Willis and Pearl (Berry) Guffy. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City, and she graduated from East High School in 1933. On Oct. 31, 1934, she married Otto Lammers in Elk Point, S.D. Berniece operated a sewing business out of her home and did alterations for Kay Dee Western Wear for many years. She loved to sew and made many dresses for her family and doll cloths for her grandchildren. She also loved gardening, bird watching and especially playing with her grandchildren. He husband, Otto, died March 11, 1994, in Sioux City.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanine Rae Lammers of Sioux City and Jeanette and Jack Spidell of Bronson, Iowa; two grandchildren, Richard and Avis Spidell, Lori and Bruce Troupe; six grandchildren, Karinsa, Nadea, Nikiaila, Ciara, Trevor and Troy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two brothers; and two sisters.
