SIOUX CITY -- Chuck Hanson, 75, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at his home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be posted online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Chuck was born June 27, 1936, in Sioux City, the son of Harry and Edra (Hobbs) Hanson. He grew up and attended Lowell Elementary School, North Junior and Central High School. He attended the University of South Dakota. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Chuck married Jodene Ann Hass July 3, 1965, at Doon (Iowa) Congregational Church. Since their marriage they made their home in Sioux City.

Chuck's favorite things were watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and New York Yankees, bowling, golfing, camping and fishing. He especially enjoyed the summer trips to Park Rapids, Minn., for walleye fishing with his son, Jon, and best friend, Tom Macfarlane.

He worked in the car business for 38 years, until his retirement to take care of his wife, Jodene, full time.

Survivors include his son, Jon Hanson of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jodene Hanson; his parents, Harry and Edra Hanson; and an infant sister.

Pallbearers will be Tom Macfarlane, John Hemmingstad, Buzz Hass, Don Mitchell, Dick Erickson and Michelle Moser.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
