SIOUX CITY | Leo W. Beebe, 92, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at a local nursing home and care facility.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Berkemier Chapel of Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Sylvia Kennedy, pastor of Whitfield United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be 4:30 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home,

Leo was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Sibley, Iowa, to Lester and Jennie (Fursee) Beebe. He grew up in the Sibley area, later moving to the Sioux City area in 1937. He was a lifelong resident of Siouxland.

He married Leta Hackett on June 6, 1941. She passed away in February of 1998 in Sioux City.

When Leo came to Sioux City in 1937, he worked for a couple of dairies in the area. He later worked for Roberts Dairy from 1948 to 1982. Later he was an usher for the Sioux City auditorium; and after his retirement from Roberts, he worked at the Carom House in South Sioux City from 1984 to 2000.

He was of the Methodist faith.

Stock car races were his greatest joy and passion.

Survivors include his son, Gary and Karen Beebe of South Sioux City; granddaughter, Marci and Alan Meadows of Locust Grove, Va.; great-grandchildren, Stephany, Marla and Lilly; and daughter-in-law, Fay Beebe of Cary, N.C.

Preceding him in death were his wife; son, Lee; and sister, Shirley Flynn.
