SIOUX CITY -- Donald G. Hanneman, 82, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nea Huggins and Shrine Chaplain Neil Peck C.L.S. officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the 185th Air Guard. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., followed by a Masonic Service, at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Donald was born June 26, 1929 in Vermillion, S.D., the son of Earl H. and Emma K. (Weigle) Hanneman. He graduated with a GED and attended Western Iowa Tech for two years receiving a degree in livestock management. He owned and operated D&D Auto Repair. He made a 28-year career in the U.S. Air Force serving from Oct. 18, 1950 until June 30, 1985, serving with the 185th Air Guard. He graduated from the NCO Academy on Oct. 21, 1976.

He married Dorothea Mabel DeWitt on June 26, 1954 in Sioux City. She passed away on Jan. 23, 1992 in Sioux City.

Don was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Triangle Masonic Lodge 643 and North Riverside Lodge 662 where he was a past master. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite, Abu-Bekr Shrine, Hospital Dads, Wrecking Crew and the American Legion Post 662 in Sergeant Bluff.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Janet and Kevin Smith of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Angela and her husband Jason Bates, William Dalke and Darin Foster; five great-grandchildren, David and Wyatt Bates, Michael Dalke and Syenna and Loghan Foster; and a niece, Sharon Hanneman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothea; three brothers, Howard, John and Eddie; a sister, Arlene; and a granddaughter, Kaydence Foster.

Pallbearers will be David Dunscomb Sr., Jeremy Berger and his Triangle Masonic Lodge Brothers, George Harrison, John Priestley, Buster Towns and Jeff Fulton. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and Sonny Barbee.
