SIOUX CITY -- Kathleen A. "Kat" Hill, 54, of Sioux City died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at a Sioux City hospital after a long battle with lymphoma.

Memorial services celebrating her life will begin 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Siouxland Center for Active Generations, West 4th and Cook Streets in Sioux City. Becker - Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Kathleen was born July 14, 1957 in Sioux City and graduated from Burke High School in Omaha, Neb. She attended Kansas State University and Wayne State College.

She was character development chair for the River-Cade's Renaissance Faire and was named River-Cade Volunteer of the Year in 2010. She created costumes for many of the Riverssance troupe members, sewed the gypsy encampment tent from old shower curtains and sheets that she recycled from a local hotel. She coordinated troupe participation in parades, wrote skits and created Renaissance presentations for schools in Siouxland, and recruited new troupe members wherever she went.

Kat was involved as a volunteer at the Siouxland Center For Active Generations, teaching creative writing for 14 years and producing short story workshops called "Bookworms".

She is survived by two children, Rebecca Hill of Staten Island, N.Y., and Charlie Hill of Sioux City; a sister, Sandy Townsend of South Sioux City; a brother, Bill Sund and his wife, Linda (Schleuter) Sund of Kearney, Neb., one nephew; two nieces; five grandnieces and two grandnephews; cousins; aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Fern (Madison) Sund of South Sioux City.

Memorial donations will be used to cover final disposition expenses.
