SIOUX CITY -- Raymond Joseph Jauron, 89, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Raymond was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Chancellor, S.D. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed for 30-plus years with Wilson Trailer. He served as the union steward for his fellow workers at that time.

He married Virginia Daugherty, the love of his life, on June 17, 1947. He spent his last 64 years with her, always knowing she was the best thing to ever happen to him.

He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sioux City.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Virginia; three daughters, Mary and Edward Oakley of Sioux City, Madonna and Rod Kass of Hinton, Iowa, and Michelle and Roger Mastne of Sioux City; a son, Kevin and Theresa Jauron of Sioux City; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Audrey Jauron, Delia Beacom and Theresa Bertrand.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark; and two brothers.

He was a wonderful husband and father, who will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank hospice for all its kind work.
