Theodore Paulus Edward Fundermann was born Dec. 6, 1929, on the family farm three miles south of Anthon, the son of Theodore John Diedrich and Emma (Benker) Fundermann. He went to country school at Miller No. 2 through the eighth grade and graduated from Anthon High School. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army from May 15, 1951, until April 18, 1953, stationed in Alaska.
