Joan was born June 22, 1929, in Sioux City to Roy H. and Johanna (Van den Broek) Moore. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1947. On July 3, 1948, she married Warren H. Menefee and was blessed with two sons, Dennis and Douglas.

She worked at Iowa Public Service (MidAmerican Energy Co.) for 30 years, retiring in 1985. She moved to her favorite place, Lake Okoboji, and worked at Village West in several positions. In 1994 she moved to Jacksonville, Fla., where she kept busy with her grandchildren. She seldom missed their ball games, band competitions and school activities and loved being with them at the beach. In 2007, when the grandkids were grown, she moved back to Sioux City to renew memories with friends and family. Joan always loved the Iowa seasons and looked forward to her return to Iowa.

Surviviors include her sons, Dennis (LaVonne) Menefee of Sioux City and Douglas (Sandy) Menefee of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Chad (Lori) Menefee and Dana (Nicole) Menefee of Sioux City, Perry (Patti) Menefee, Kelli (Chris) Kelley, Danny (Katie) Menefee, all of Jacksonville, and Tim (Chandra) Menefee of Pooler, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren, Kendra, Abby and Dayzee of Sioux City, Savannah and Dalaina of Jacksonville and Connor, Kaelyn and Payton of Pooler; two brothers, Roy (Janie) Moore of Upland, Calif., and Bob (Dee) Moore of The Villages, Fla; and a sister, Joyce Tuttle of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Johanna Moore; her former husband, Warren H. Menefee; sister-in-law, Doris Ann Moore; a brother-in-law, Cecil Tuttle; and a great-granddaughter, Brittany Joan Menefee.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Holdiman and his staff at Hospice of Siouxland for their assistance and caring support. Memorials will be given to Hospice of Siouxland.
