20 December 2012SIOUX CITY | Gerald "Jake" Wayne Jacobsen, 63, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis of natural causes.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Homer, Neb., with the Rev. Randy Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery in Homer. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
Jake was born Jan. 18, 1949, in Sioux City, the son of Henry and Grace Jacobsen. He graduated from Homer High School, and attended Kearney (Neb.) State College. He served in the U.S. Army.
Jake was employed as a salesman at Sioux City Iron.
He enjoyed watching his grandkids participate in baseball and basketball. He enjoyed watching Morningside Mustang Football. He was the former head baseball coach of South Sioux City Legion baseball.
Survivors include his son, Casey (Heidi) Jacobsen and their children Hogan, Kelynn, Owen and Annabelle; his daughter, Jessica Jacobsen and her children Jersey and Kam; siblings, Lillian (Faye), Bob (Marilynn) and Larry (Judy); numerous nieces and nephews; and an extraordinary group of friends in the Homer gang.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack
